Sounds from the shofar the second sound is the one for repentance
Stephen Jones a friend of Phil's has embraced what we are doing and has some insight into the timing of why now? The links to his posts discussing what we are doing here during this season are listed below.
Proper understanding of the timing and purpose of God will go a long way to bringing out the most from this undertaking. Stephen's blog is also connecting us through a common goal to many other intercessors that we may never meet face to face. But we can labor together in praying for this region.
Saul's Seven remember the Scripture the Lord highlighted during July.
In spite of the fact that the treaty was originally made in disobedience to God's commandments concerning the driving out and killing all the inhabitants of Cannan. Seven sons of Saul were given over to the Gibeonites to be hung. This act cleansed the land from the curse brought on by Saul's misdirected zeal.
Similarly our group of 'seven' men are offering ourselves to take on the responsibility of the broken covenants of the past generations (Saul). It has been said that there are 400 covenants with the native nations that have been broken by the U.S. government.
A sobering thought...I have even heard it said that Hitler took inspiration for his genocide of millions of Jews during WWII, from the history of how the U.S. treated the native nations! Including the transportation of Jews to concentration camps in cattle cars. The Dakota were transported by rail to St. Louis, MO and then carried by boat up the Missouri river to South Dakota, traveling over hundreds of miles, many fell sick and died and some committed suicide during the journey because of hopelessness.
If we want to leave behind a blessing, if we want to bless the next generation and prepare materials for the next move of God, for our sons and daughters to walk in. Then it is time to stop mourning for yesterday (Saul's reign) and fill our horn with oil and go forth and bless, anoint, invoke favor upon the next generation by removing the poison from the pot.
Now the Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go; I am sending you to Jesse the Bethlehemite. For I have provided Myself a king among his sons.” 1 Samuel 16:1
