Day -23 A PEOPLE PREPARED FOR GOD

It is easy to be distracted by a dramatic event 

and totally miss the less dramatic process of preparation 

which makes that event so dramatic. 

---Day -23 starts at sundown Tuesday ---

16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. 
17 He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah,
‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ 
and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, 
to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”  Luke 1:16-1

Lets consider for a moment the story of the walls of Jericho falling down. Who can say which was more important, the shout that brought the walls down, or walking around in silence for seven days before the walls fell? Perhaps the blowing of the shofar is your favorite part, then what is more critical, the seven days of constant blowing on the shofar or the teruah blast at the very end as the walls fell?  

Well I think it is both, I think God commanded them to walk in silence for a period of days and God commanded them to shout on a certain day and at a certain time! Missing either the preparation or the final shout would not bring about the desired result. 

What about us? We are now just eight days away 
from (the new year!)  Rosh Hashanah, September 4th. 

On that evening we will make the journey to the Blue Earth river. 

• We will blow the Shofar  
• We may read Psalm 27 , 
• prophetic actions will be performed there. 
• Some may worship, 
• dance, 
• pray, 
• travail, 
• be silent, 
• shout to the Lord. 
• No matter what the sum of all that we do there the question remains...

What is more significant? 

Is it the specific actions that we perform at a physical time and location? 
Or the process of making us ready to hear God in that moment?
What about days after this event, to wait for the power to come, in answer to the actions taken and the prayers prayed. 

Jesus conquered death, hell and all his foes when His body was resurrected. Yet he spoke to the disciples after his conquest and just before he ascended into heaven and commanded them to wait...until the power from on high came upon them. 

Well... I would like to hear your comments on this. 

To me they are one in the same. God directed us to go to the Headwaters of the Blue Earth River by one of our group, but when we asked what do we do, and how should we do it? 

Another member of our group was impacted by Psalm 81 and believed we should blow the shofar at that time and place. Yet another member understood the timing indicated in the Psalm and recognized the instruction given by the pattern, every joint supplying.  Which member is more important?

On the new moon and on the full moon.  
Once we knew it was the three fall festivals that were mentioned in the Psalm 81 passage, the pattern of those festivals provided a framework answering the question...How shall we do this? 

The 40 days that we are in the midst of observing, were practiced for centuries going back to ancient times. A series of trumpet blasts were blown each morning reminding people to return to the Lord. 

This was before modern telecommunications had been invented. 
It was a practical means to broadcast a message over a large geographic area and it had spiritual ramifications as well (pun intended.)  

In our days a blog site serves as the ram's horn and we hope the words we broadcast daily are a reminder blast to return to God. 

Once prepared...when we walk out onto that location, at that specific time, and we blow a literal shofar, in the spirit of Elijah.
we will have no idea how significant that act will be, where the ripples of obedience will hit the shoreline, but its significance will be largely determined by how prepared we are as a people to listen and obey. 



...to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
