DECLARATION is a necessary element of intercession. We stand in the gap before the Lord on behalf of fallen mankind in order to bring God’s purposes into the lives of people and situations.
As we enter into God’s presence, which is absolutely essential while going into the place of prayer, we begin to see the realities of the Lord’s perspectives. It is absolutely right to release these declarations into this realm with Kingdom authority.
When Moses was leading Israel God was speaking to him about going into the land. Moses basically says to the Lord if you don’t go with us we won’t go but if you will go with us we will go into the land. Then Moses asks to be shown God’s glory. You know the story. The Lord says no one can see His face and live but that the Lord will put Moses in the cleft of the rock and pass by so then Moses could see God’s backside as He walked away.
And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming,
“The Lord, the Lord,
- the compassionate and gracious God,
- slow to anger abounding in love and faithfulness,
- maintaining love to thousands, and
- forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin.”
Exodus 34.6, 7
It goes on to say that God does punish the guilty to the third and fourth generation. We do not make light of sin and its consequences but it is through the lens of the blood of Jesus that we are making declaration here speaking God’s freedom and release.
It is interesting to note that this is the Lord’s declaration of His own essence and being. Of all the things God is, He chose these characteristics to describe who He is to Moses, the man highly favored at this time.
Listen to the words again:
- compassionate,
- gracious,
- slow to anger,
- abounding in love,
- (abounding in) faithfulness,
- maintaining love and
- forgiving.
This is declaring the very nature of the Lord to the people who we are trying to reach with the gospel. Maybe we’ll see more compassion, love, mercy and forgiveness being manifested in our own lives as well as those around us as we begin to make kingdom declarations in prayer.
This is only one of many thousands of kingdom declarations from the Word of God. Dig in and find the precious treasures that God has hidden just for you, and those ready to be revealed in these days.
Blessings
Don Millican
