============================
What if we could step INTO A TIME MACHINE today and travel back to the days of Moses, Caleb and Joshua and land on this same week of that year...
Then the nation of Israel would be standing on the wilderness side of the Jordan, still waiting to hear the report of the 12 spies sent into the land 37 days ago.
We on the other hand would have crossed that river 37 days ago and currently be spying out the land, with the 12 spies for another three days.
Isn't that incredible? That the last 40 days, as we have been praying through and spying out the situations, that have brought curses on this land. That these days are the very same days, that centuries ago, the 12 spies were looking over the land, that God had promised to their fathers, as their inheritance.
Each man had to ask himself just one question...
IS THIS MY PROMISED LAND?
============================
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel;...
So they went up and spied out the land from the Wilderness of Zin as far as Rehob, near the entrance of Hamath.22 And they went up through the South and came to Hebron; Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak,were there...
25 And they returned from spying out the land after forty days.26 Now they departed and came back to Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel in the Wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh; they brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.
28 Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there...
30 Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”
31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.”
32 And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. 33 There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” Numbers 13
What if all of the 12 spies had the faith of Caleb and Joshua?
- They could have entered in at the appointed time
- God would have driven their enemies out before them
- They could have entered the promised land on the Jubilee of Jubilees*
The picture becomes pretty clear, God uses ordinary men for His appointed times:
Passover - coming out of slavery God's Salvation at the appointed time
Pentecost - God's sustaining grace in the wilderness, for the appointed time
Tabernacles -Entering God's Promises at the appointed time
Possess their land and bring it under submission to their LORD and King.
==============================
Well don't distance yourself from this decision so hastily... I don't think we realize, that we are standing in exactly the same place (prophetically) as those 12 men were standing physically.
================================
For this next section, I am speaking directly to the company of seven men from the GAP who went to the Blue Earth River. This project all started with one question asked by God, and we all know that He was not asking for new information, that He did not have.
So He was asking, "what will you say to this?"
The question was this...
IS THIS YOUR PROMISED LAND?
WOW! now it is all coming into sharp focus.
God had appointed that Israel should go in and possess the land at this specific time.
It fell on a JUBILEE year, the 40 days spying culminated on the Day of Atonement.
We are in a JUBILEE* year, our 40 days watching is ending on the Day of Atonement.
*(150 years since 1862)
If you read the last couple day's posts, I have been alluding to a decision that must be made over the next couple of days. I think it is appropriate to have this message going out for the eve of NINE ELEVEN, because our report will be either be based on fear or based on faith.
The Lord asked Don, is this your promised land?
But He chose and anointed this time frame and revealed it to us by speaking to us through the members of His Body, so now we find ourselves standing on the threshold of things we know so little of. We find ourselves as ordinary men, baptized (immersed and changed) in prophetically significant days and the weight our decisions have taken on a prophetic dimension and weight, that should not be ignored.
We are ordinary men, just like the 12 spies were ordinary men, yet we are burdened with making a report, answering the question, and our answer may well set in motion God's promises, His destiny for our families, our city, our region, and our nation.
In ancient Israel just twelve ordinary men, perhaps with wives, families and jobs, were chosen for a special 40 day assignment. They were chosen, each from their own tribe and sent together behind enemy lines to journey for forty days and forty nights looking into the promises and the fruits of those promises, and decide could God be trusted to bring all that HE promised into fruition.
After 40 days of looking into the promises and seeing the possible future, they had to speak what was in their hearts, fear of giants and fortresses, or fear of the LORD, the God of Israel.
They must make a declaration... to say with Caleb "“Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”
or to agree with the other ten saying,
“We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.”
==================================
The decisions we make over the next few days may determine
whether we will walk in His promises, for this region in our generation!
or whether we delay the promise,
pushing it off to the next generation.
==================================
If we declare a Jubilee, on the eve of Yom Kippur
- all the inhabitants of the land returning to their inheritance
- all unpaid debts released
- all slaves released and sent home
- all prison doors opened.
On the other hand, on the 40th day if we declare a day of continued fasting and mourning for the Day of Atonement...we will be declaring that we need more time in the wilderness, declaring that we are not ready to possess it, let our children be the ones to enter in, in their generation.
Then we will be shrinking back from taking the land at the appointed time and we will be answering God's only question to us... with a definite NO!
Sorry, This is NOT MY promised land?...In the one year bible my reading for today reads...
Be calm and don't be afraid. Do not lose heart...
If you do not stand firm in your faith,
you will not stand at all.
And again the Lord spoke to Ahaz, "Ask the LORD for a sign, whether in the deepest depths, or in the highest heights" But Ahaz said " I will not ask: I will not put God to the test." ...will you also try the patience of my God also. The Lord Himself will give you a sign... the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and we will call Him God is with us... Isaiah 7
I trust in God, if He says the land is ours, then it is ours. He has founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the rivers. He chooses where to place His Spirit, and I believe Mankato has been chosen by God. This is the generation who seeks Him, who seeks His face. God is the King of glory, He is the Lord of hosts. Lord, Mankato is yours, come be with us. (paraphrase Ps. 24)
ReplyDeleteSorry I have been trying to catch up on things for the last few days on the blog. Interesting that we end up with a question from the Lord, "Is this your promised land?" The Lord has definitely brought us to a decision point at this pinnacle time and the destiny of so many will be determined by how we answer the question. I say let's finish strong and in celebration of the promise of God. Yes we are well able to take the land with the Lord of Hosts with us. Amen and Amen!!!
ReplyDeleteDavid you have definitely brought it up several levels in the blogging for the kingdom category. Thank you so much for all your hard work and dedication.
