DAY 34 - Starts at Sundown Saturday - Six more days until the Day of Atonement or Jubilee
The 10 days of Awe that fall between Rosh Hashanah and the Day of Atonement parallel the the story Jesus told about 10 virgins, who were waiting for the bridegroom to come.
As the story goes the bridegroom delayed his coming and they all slumbered.
Zola Levitt has a book called an Israeli Love Story which lays out the custom, from which Jesus spun His parable.
When they heard the trump announcing his imminent arrival, they all awoke.
50% of the virgins found they were running low on oil and tried to borrow from the other 50% who had been diligent to prepare before the trump sounded by filling their lamps and storing up extra.
The prepared virgins refused to share! Which seems selfish, doesn't it?
In fact it doesn't sound Christian at all! But the oil is not something that can be given like a commodity. The oil is symbolic for the Holy Spirit, and He is something that you have received, taken in over time. Each virgin must receive him in themselves.
If you have received the oil the trump is a welcome call, a sound of gladness, if you have not received oil the trump is an alarming sound.. It either signifies the return of the one we love, Jesus our Jubilee. Or the Day of Atonement, the closing of the door, a fearful thought, if you are not ready.
We just walked through 30 days of prayer and intercession giving ourselves to receive more oil; Allowing the Holy Spirit to engrave the law into our hearts of flesh. So that we might live out the law in our daily lives, and the result is that our lamp gives off light. We are storing up oil right now, prayer is one of the best ways to get filled up.
This blast of the trumpet, "the awakening blast" is heard each year at the Feast of Trumpets, this was the shofar blast we experienced at the Blue Earth River Wednesday night, The trump... announcing His imminent return. Wednesday night was the commencement of the Feast of Trumpets, or Rosh Hashanah.
I know that most of the Church believes that all of this is just 'Jewish stuff', part of the old covenant which has passed away, and they are partially right when they talk about the physical practice of the festivals of Passover, and Pentecost. Because they have both been fulfilled spiritually in the history of the Church.
JESUS FULFILLED THE SPRING FESTIVALS
- Jesus was our Passover, He replaced the lamb as the sacrifice.
- He was our unleavened bread, He who know no sin
- He was the sheaf wave offering of Barley, the first fruits of bodily resurrection.
JESUS FULFILLED PENTECOST
The Holy Spirit, Came on Pentecost and ushered in the Church age,
- He is Our Pentecost. He writes the Law on our hearts while we traverse this wilderness, on our way to the promised land.
THE FALL FESTIVALS NEED TO BE FULFILLED
There is no reason for the Church of Jesus Christ to ignore them. This is our promised land, our inheritance.
JESUS IS OUR JUBILEE!
- Trumpets,
- the Day of Atonement,
- Tabernacles
The argument that this is old covenant stuff and doesn't apply to us, doesn't hold any water. An argument that says that Jesus' second coming has nothing to do with the new covenant?
Really?
Jesus is our Jubilee!
That is the new covenant!
I am wondering what the New Covenant is about, if it is not about Jesus,
the Trump sounding and the Bride being caught up in the air to be forever with Lord.
Today and for the next several days let's watch and pray, for His imminent return.
He comes at an hour we might not expect.
- Receive the Holy Spirit.
- Be filled with the Holy Spirit
- Be led by the Spirit
- Walk in the Spirit
- Pray in the Spirit
- Sing in the Spirit
