PASSION WEEK BEGINS NOW!

The passion week begins with the day of selection.

Today, April 10 is the day of selection, it is the 10th day of the first month. On this day each family selected a lamb with out blemish for their Passover lamb, one lamb for each household.

Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying:‘On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household. Exodus 12:1-3

The nation of Israel also selected a National Pesach (Passover) lamb who was paraded through the city in great celebration and then led up into the Temple. Jesus makes sure to arrive in Jerusalem prior to this very important day of The Triumphal Entry.
After He had said these things, He was going on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. When He approached Bethphage and Bethany, near the mount that is called Olivet, He sent two of the disciples, saying, "Go into the village ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a colt tied on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here.…Luke 19:28-30
On this very day as the national lamb was lead through the streets of Jerusalem, on a course that ends at the ALTAR in the Temple. People did what they had done every year for 3,000 years, they waved palm fronds. The children, the men and the women are all still waving the palm fronds in the air, after the lamb has passed by, but wait something is happening!

This year however, was different because Jesus came riding on the foal of a donkey that had never been ridden, and He follows the same route following closely behind the the nation's last Passover lamb, winding through the streets of Jerusalem and ultimately headed for the temple itself.

When they saw Jesus following behind, riding on the foal of donkey, they recognize the second sign, of the coming Messianic King and they begin to take off their outer garments, many which bore their family identity (crest) and position embroidered on the (border) tilda. They laid them down upon the roadway in an act of worship, as a pavement for the King. This 'red carpet' treatment was made up of their individual identities laid out and mixed in a way that would make it difficult to extract an individual garment in the mix of garments. They became a corporate identity a blending of all the individuals in to one new pavement, all responding to the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9

In this one one act Jesus is declaring Himself to be the Passover Lamb replacing forever the natural lamb, with the spiritual lamb. He is also declaring himself as the Promised Messianic King!

While the first sign following the route of the lamb is clearly tied to PASSOVER the second sign the coming King relates directly to us today. The King is coming. This is the sign for the fall festivals, TRUMPETS, ATONEMENT, TABERNACLES.

The Coming King
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey.         Zechariah 9:9
and so they began to cry out something close to the prophecy above.
‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
This is similar to the picture we see in the book of revelation when the 24 elders cast their golden crowns at his feet.
Worship of the Creator
And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, "Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created." Revelation 4:9-11

Who is your Passover lamb?

Whose blood brushed on the doorpost of your life, keeps the death angel from coming to your house tonight?

Jesus is our Passover lamb!

If you haven't selected your lamb yet, consider Jesus, as your Passover lamb.

It is for freedom's sake that He has set you free.

Maybe a more important question for us who have made Jesus our Passover lamb is:

Are you ready to make Him your coming King?

Is Jesus ruling over your life today?

Is your lamp full of oil?

Do you know how the triumphal procession ends?

You might be very surprised check back here tomorrow to find out.
