Thursday Night Prayer

OUR HISTORY as a prayer group
2008-9 RELAY RACERS
We begin praying for a select group of the local congregation the children who were specifically involved in Relay Racers program.

2010-11 PRAYER CONTINUES, EXPANDS IN SCOPE
When the Relay Racers program ended, this prayer focus continued and began to expand beyond the children and their classes, to include the whole local house and the leaders and families in the local house. New people joined the small group. I joined the group in mid-year 2010.

2011-12 WORSHIP, PRAYER, prophetic songs
We branched out to including soaking music and then added live instrumental music. Others from outside the local congregation joined us. And over the years the Spirit led us to begin to lift our eyes and see the neighborhoods around us and the families in them.  We would pray for high school students, college students, families, other houses of worship, and other groups as we were led. We prayer walked the neighborhood around CFC.

2013 PROPHETIC ACTION - IS THIS YOUR PROMISED LAND?
this was the year we began again to expand our vision. Don was led to drive around Mankato and pray. God asked him the question...is this your promised land? We began to pray for the city and region and its inhabitants, even being led to pray for the inhabitants that were exiled 150 years prior. We initiated a 40-day prayer campaign with the purpose of seeing people return to the Lord. Unknown to us we were prophetically looking forward 2 years to the year of Jubilee. (SEPTEMBER 13, 2015) We even declared Jubilee on the day of atonement in 2013. God gave us songs about setting the captives free, the opening of prison doors, the forgiveness of all debts, and the inhabitants returning to their inheritance.

2014 Released from the local charter to pray extra locally.
Last fall we had our last meeting under the charter from Covenant Family that was initially just praying for the kids, while they were in class back in 2008-9. It was also extended to pray for the local house. With the new year falling on September 25th, 2014, we entered into an interesting time. 'Released from' TIME what we have been doing for six years coming into Shemitah (seventh, 'release from servitude', year of Sabbath rest for the land, and the indentured worker) but with NO 'Release To' something.

Jubilee, on the other hand, is a 'release to inheritance', each one returning his father's house, to the place and fullness of his inheritance. Since we are a prophetic prayer group it should not be surprising to any that we are walking out a prophetic pattern ahead of time. However, what we are walking out is accurate to the letter, the pattern of Shemitah (release from), and preparing for Jubilee (release to).

NEW DIRECTION - JUBILEE RELEASE TO A HIGHER CALL
We believe in this new season, that LEARNING TO INTERCEDE IN THE COURTS OF HEAVEN is the NEW direction for this prayer group. We have much to learn to take up a position as intercessors in this realm. We will be pursuing how to pray effectively, to see legal decisions made in the courts of Heaven in the favor of the saints. How to remove cases against us individually and corporately throughout the region.

Contending for decisions that result in the release of ourselves, our families and friends, our churches, our city, our region and our nation from the cases currently against them.
To act in agreement with the Lord in a way that gives God legal permission to render proclamations for release instead of judgments. These cases the enemy has built against us can hold back delay or derail the fruit of the good words spoken over them, until we are ready to face the charges against us through the blood of Jesus Christ, the word of our testimony, and loving not our lives...

In October 2014 one of the men in our group became the Blue Earth County Coordinator for the Minnesota Apostolic Prayer Network (MAPN) part of the Heartland Apostolic Prayer Network (HAPN) and because of our charter with Covenant Family has expired, we are considering a connection with MAPN/HAPN.  Waiting for Jubilee before taking any new direction.

Personally, I have also been pursuing increasing involvement with the Potter's House of Prayer (PHOP) here in Mankato since September 25, 2014. I had begun to go to check it out during the 30 days preceding Trumpets.

Over these last six years, our small group of individuals met weekly on Thursday nights at 7 PM.

We came together to hear God speak and then we prayed out what the Father was saying.   Many of us still belong to the congregation at Covenant Family.

Both Men & women were welcome and we have had individuals from other congregations who met with us, as well as visitors coming in from time to time. Recently, we discovered that we had over six decades represented among our core of seven men. We had members in their 20s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 80s. We are truly multi-generational with the possibility of four generations making up our core group.

Our format and agenda
We encourage each person to learn to check their 'baggage' at the curb (leave the cares of this world outside the doors of the meeting) as much as possible.
  1. We are here in the role of an intercessor, which means praying for others, many of whom may not be praying themselves.
  2. We also took up a prayer for our congregation, our city, our region, our leaders, our government officials, and primarily whatever the Holy Spirit highlights.
We used worship music, spiritual songs, and instrumental music to help us quiet our minds and to focus on what the Spirit is saying to us NOW.

Then we came together in a circle around 7:30 PM
  1. We each shared whatever we saw, heard or read in Scripture.
  2. We engaged in combined prayer in alignment with those things.
  3. We acted together in obedience to do what we discerned God was directing us to do.
I have entered some of my journal entries, as posts here, from our weekly meetings covering the last couple of years. In an attempt to be accountable to the things we have heard from the Lord. And so that they could be tested over time. These posts will be designated by a TNP prefix. There are also other kinds of posts that appear here.

I have invited a few others to share their thoughts as well, I hope by inviting them, we can fill in the blanks, the things I may not remember or things that I missed, while I was involved in playing music as a backdrop.

As individuals, we are submitted to the Holy Spirit and the oversight of the local elders at Covenant Family. However, on December 1, 2014, we began to consider another covering body for oversight of the group, since our charter at Covenant Family expired on September 25, 2014.

Here are a few books I recommend on contemplative prayer, of course, there are others I would recommend as well...

Reese Howells - Intercessor
Happy Intercesor - Beni Johnson

Experiencing the Depths of Jesus Christ
Praying The Bible - Wesley Campbell
Good Morning Holy Spirit - Benny Hinn

Comments

  1. I tried commenting-but I don't think it went through so here we go again. Father gave me a word yesterday."The Eagle has Landed." It was a personal word but today He caused me to did a little deeper. The web site "ASK" says this: "The term 'The eagle has landed' can be attributed to the Hopi, an indigenous tribe of the northern continent of The Americas. It is really a lament expressed in the hope that the rich culture of the Hopi and other tribes would finally be vindicated and accepted by white people and allowed to flourish. The eagle was sacred to the Hopi and other indigenous people. In this sense the meaning is metaphysical." So this lament of the Hopi indians I believe has been answered in this 40 days of prayer and repentence.
