NO NEED TO FEAR THE FEAR OF THE LORD

There's no reason to Fear the Fear of the Lord!
if you call out for insight  and raise your voice for understanding,
if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD... - Proverbs 2:2
The Fear of the Lord is to believe* in Him. Blessings (treasure) of all kinds are the fruit of believing in Him. Curses (limitations) of many kinds are the fruit of ignoring or rejecting Him.

*The word 'believe' means to cling to, rely on, and trust in, our actions will always drown out our words if the two do not match... if they match they will amplify each other.

Imagine you are driving in a winter blizzard and the roads are covered in black ice, you come to a hill and see cars spinning out of control. What do you do? You grab the wheel with white knuckles...you cling to, rely on, and trust your strong grip on the steering wheel will bring you out safely. In short you *believe in your steering wheel!  God is infinitely more reliable than your steering wheel.

Our actions demonstrate to what degree we believe in Him,
  • Believe in His Power - He has the power over life and death
  • Believe in His Character -  His Goodness, compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in mercy,
  • Believe in His Will - He is not willing that any should perish.
However, there is good reason to Fear the Lord...

Knowing God is the fruit of Fearing the Lord and Fearing the Lord is the fruit of Knowing Him. knowing His Power, His Character, and His Will.

Proverbs 2:2-15 sums up pretty well, why the fear of the Lord is His Treasure and why it should become our Treasure as well.
if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding,
if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.
For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints.
Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path;
for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul;
discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you, delivering you from the way of evil,
from men of perverted speech, who forsake the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness,
who rejoice in doing evil and delight in the perverseness of evil men whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways._ Proverbs 2:2-15
