Emperor Ceasar Augustus facilitates the fulfillment of Prophecy.

But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah,
who are too little to be among the clans of Judah,
from you shall come forth for me
one who is to be ruler in Israel,
whose coming forth is from of old,
from ancient days.

God moved the heart of the Emperor of the Roman Empire, Ceasar Augustus to make a decree requiring that all people must return to the place of their ancestral heritage. This was how God caused the Roman emperor to expedite the trek of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus from Nazareth of Galilee to Bethlehem Ephratah to fulfill the prophecy written around 700 years prior by the hand of Micah the prophet.

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered.

And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David,

This region Bethlehem, where Jesus was born (because of the edict of Rome) was the one place in the world where the lambs were born and raised to be sacrificed in the temple of the God of Israel.

So... this Jesus was born geographically exactly in the one place where the sacrificial lambs were born.

He was born at the exact time (season and month) that the sacrificial lambs were born.

And in the same region, there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. Luke 2

Out in the fields by night watching over their flocks (this only happened during the short lambing season, in the spring March to early April.

 

Furthermore, these lambs selected for sacrifice would immediately upon birth be wrapped in swaddling clothes and placed in a manager to protect them from being trampled or injured.

Jesus was likewise wrapped in swaddling clothes* and laid in a manager immediately upon his birth in the same manner as the lambs marked for sacrifice.

The angels of God appeared to the only men in the known world who would understand the sign.

And this shall be a sign to you, you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, and laying in a manager.

You see the swaddling clothes were made from priestly garments that had become too worn out for service to God. So Jesus (our High Priest) was wrapped in the linen garments of priesthood from birth.

Jesus was called the son of David.

David was also a shepherd in this same region as a boy around 885 BC. ...David his father, and his brothers were probably raising lambs to sacrifice in the Temple of God. They too may have wrapped those lambs in swaddling clothes and laid them in a manger. The angels of God were then sent to the descendants of David's family to announce the baby Jesus' birth.

Clearly, it was important to God that people knew that Jesus was coming to die, all the signs pointed to Jesus being born as the ultimate sacrifice to deal once and for all with the Sin problem that had plagued Adam's race.
