49 YEARS - A RETURN TO ROOTS OF REVIVAL

Last night I was in a Let Us Worship event in the K-mart parking lot on Lake and Nicollet in the epicenter of the May riots in Minneapolis. From the stage, they were declaring a New Jesus People Movement. This event took place On September 13, 2020, almost 49 years after the original 'Jesus People movement' came to Minneapolis in 1971.

Why is this significant? Because 49 years opens up a Jubilee for one year starting with the 49th anniversary. The law of Jubliee is that every man returns to his father's house to receive his inheritance. A return to the land, and to inheritance. All debts are canceled, all prison doors are opened, captives go free, slavery ends. This is what God is declaring over Minneapolis right now, JUBILEE.

The Sovereign Lord has returned to finish the revival in He started in Minneapolis in 1971.  It was prophecied in the seventies that there would be another revival in the 'state where the Mississippi started,' that would flow down to the Gulf of Mexico and then two winds would carry it like wildfire to both coasts.  The original name that was given by the explorers to what is now known as the Mississippi River was the River of the Holy Spirit.

1971 - A young preacher, Dick Eastman came from California to Minneapolis to launch prayer furnaces here, as he had been doing across California with college-aged young people.
He was scheduled to come to North Central University in downtown Minneapolis on Monday-Wednesday, but on the previous weekend, he was the speaker for a prayer retreat with about 120 participants at the Camp Courage facilities West of Downtown Minneapolis.  That weekend God showed up in a way that impacted the students so profoundly that not one of the 120 students showed up in the cafeteria at mealtime, the cafeteria was closed after the first day and the workers went home. Not one of the students showed up for a single meal for the entire three days! ' Many stayed up through the nights in an encounter with the living God!

This weekend visitation was the catalyst for what took place at North Central University, I believe it set the stage for the weeks and months to come.  A revival began the following Monday morning in the chapel service at North Central shut down all classes for three days. Dick Eastman was gifted at responding to the revelation of facts given to him by the word of knowledge. He confirmed things God had spoken to individuals privately and gently confronted students with specific areas of compromise, calling them back to obedience to the things God had previously spoken to them. I was one of these students who were at Camp Courage. I was 17  a senior in high school at the time. I was there for the entire prayer weekend and on the last night of the meetings held the following Wednesday night at the Minneapolis Gospel Tabernacle.  The events of what Dick Eastman calls the Minneapolis Miracle is written in a chapter under the same title in his book the Purple Pig and other miracles.

As far as I know, Dick Eastman left Minneapolis on Thursday and Canadian Evangelist Brian Rudd came into Minneapolis the same day and held his first evangelistic meeting which packed the Lycium Theater, for several weeks of nightly gatherings starting in early October 1971. Rudd also used word of knowledge to expose compromise. He would walk right down into the congregation and call people out to reveal hidden truths to set them free, Souls' Harbor (a local congregation) owned the Lycium Theater in downtown Minneapolis at that time, these meetings impacted a whole generation of young people across the Twin Cities, and I was of them.
