============================28-FEB-2014
For the past couple of weeks our focus has been on making faith based declarations, while we are comfortable culturally with making prayer requests to God both individually and corporately, Jesus and the disciples would declare a healing, or issue a command, "take up your bed and walk', "Lazarus, come forth!" Like I said, this makes us a bit uncomfortable.
In essence true worship songs, extol God and stir up faith. Some Scripture songs make declarations about who God is and declare the various attributes of God.
It wasn't pre-planned, but we started with worship Phil Hess played the piano, Aaron and I played guitar, as we all gathered around and sang.. We stayed there for perhaps 45 minutes and sang Breathe, Psalm 91, Slip behind the Veil, and Lord you are Glorious.then moved down into the circle and worshiped for another 30 minutes or so singing a spontaneous songs from a few weeks ago.
We added several verses to it as each person brought out their favorite name of God.
Andy sang a new song to the Lord, to the chords from Times of Refreshing Aaron played guitar with me all night and kept up pretty well without music or words to follow.
Don lead us in reading one of the Audacious Declarations responsively.
I shared about John 3:16 and expanded on it since not everyone was in the Growth group the night before and because I had been living with it on my heart now for the last 24 hours.
We prayed for a few individuals and for the region and after worshiping and declaring, the prayer took on stronger, bolder aspect, closer to declaring a thing instead of requesting a thing.
All in all a very powerful night with the brothers. I am looking forward to doing it again.
