============================How was your day after Christmas? It was a wonderful day for us as we served in a unique opportunity to walk out the subject of our prayers.
History for those who are new to this story...
This year it seemed obvious to be a part of the Dakota 38+2 ride for remembrance. Since we had been praying for reconciliation since august 4th of this year right up until today. It was with great pleasure that we helped feed about 350 Dakota and friends who took part in the final trek from Land of Memories park into Mankato and finally arriving at the Monument in Reconciliation Park, the site of the infamous simultaneous hanging of 38 Dakota Braves.
I was honored to walk at the back of the pack of walkers, For the last mile I threw a blanket over my left shoulder and carried it, for a woman who was growing tired of carrying it. We arrived with the long string of cars that followed the riders and walkers. I am sorry I cannot provide any pictures here perhaps some of my brother's will help me with that.
I stood in front of a couple of young ladies at the ceremony at reconciliation park and over heard Lisa telling her friends Nicole and her dad, that this marked the darkest day of her people's history. That thought stuck with me through the afternoon.
After the ceremony we moved to Belgrade Methodist church building in North Mankato and there a team of 20+ individuals prepared a meal for the 350 or so that showed up. I am not sure of the total quantity of food prepared but I do know we made 250 cups of coffee for that meal. It was here that I actually met Lisa and her friend Nicole and had a chance to talk with them. We were able to share some of the thoughts of the day. Lisa, I hope you found the web site, if so welcome and stay in touch. I met John teacher from St. Paul School district as well. Welcome John if you were able to visit us here. Check back from time to time.
