The Law of First Fruits (Part One) The Light
The Rule of the First Fruits is found throughout the Scriptures from the first day of creation to the firstborn Son of God.
- There is a First-Fruit to every harvest
- First Fruits are always the best of the entire crop.
- First Fruits always belong to the Lord.
- Accordingly, the First (of anything) in the Bible is always preeminent –
The First Day of Creation -
Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day and the darkness He called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day. Genesis 1:3-5
On the very First Day of creation, God spoke into existence the most crucial element of the Kingdom of God and of life on planet Earth. "Let there be light"
Photosynthesis cannot take place without
light.
The sun created a few days later could not do
its job without light
All forms of life depend on the existence of light from all across the spectrum from infrared to ultraviolet light and beyond, Physical life, Emotional life, and Spiritual Life.
The Levites
Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Now behold, I Myself have taken the Levites from among the children of Israel instead of every firstborn who opens the womb among the children of Israel. Therefore the Levites shall be Mine, because all the firstborn are Mine. On the day that I struck all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, I sanctified to Myself all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast. They shall be Mine: I am the Lord.” Numbers 13:11-13
The Firstborn
Every firstborn that opens the womb of
both man and beast.
“Consecrate to Me all the firstborn, whatever opens the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and beast; it is Mine.” Exodus 13:2
To the only begotten (firstborn) Son of the Heavenly Father and everything in between.
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:15
Men would remain in spiritual darkness unless the Firstborn (only begotten) Son of the Father came into the world as the 'light of the world'.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
So the Firstfruits are connected as we just saw that Light was the first fruit of creation and Jesus was the firstfruit Son of Heaven and Jesus was the LIGHT of the World.
As the Spirit of God hovered over the waters, and darkness covered the waters at creation, so the Holy Spirit hovered over the waters in darkness within the womb of Mary the Virgin and she conceived Jesus (the Light of the world).
Jesus became the first fruit to raise from the dead to immortality. The first son of Adam to rise from the dead to immortality. He was given a name higher than any other name in heaven or on earth.
Next time: the first miracle of Jesus' ministry, highlights
the preeminent 'outcome' of His life on the earth. You might be surprised, at
why this miracle is so preeminent. Can you guess?
