THE CRY FOR JUSTICE in the streets...
THE CRY FOR JUSTICE in the streets...
I had a thought this morning Friday, June 5th as some friends came together for weekly conversation and prayer.
It was this phrase from the protesters in Minneapolis... NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE.
Against the backdrop of high-level politicians 'concern' for transmission of COVID-19, and their decision to keep people inside their homes and limit social engagement, we now see thousands of people on the streets and in the park's standing and marching shoulder-to-shoulder across the cities of America. Lifting up their voices in a cry for Justice. Justice has been a prophetic theme voiced for the last five years. Jerame Nelson in October 2015 at the prophetic conference a call for Justice.
There are three forces - at work right now in the streets of America!
- Grassroots reaction to police brutality - Blacks and Whites alike are crying out for justice.
- Professional Activists - Posters, bull horns, chants, pushing their political agenda.
- Lawless men and women - rioting, looting, violence, terrorism, promoting anarchy
The first group is crying out for JUSTICE by the hundreds and thousands in cities all across America. God has heard their cry, He will bring Justice to the cities of America. As the Church, we should agree with God and pray for justice to prevail.
PARTIAL JUSTICE, A PARTIAL PEACE
When most of us ask for justice we have only one case or our cause in mind. But God knows the secrets of every heart and he has witnessed every injustice, even those secret acts that have yet to come to light.
ULTIMATE JUSTICE, ULTIMATE PEACE
When he answers this cry for justice His answer will be justice for all. Justice for all cases and all causes. When God answers our cry for justice and brings justice to bear, no one will stand faultless before Him.
The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men,To see if there are any who understand, who seek God.They have all turned aside,They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good,No, not one. Psalm 14: 2-3
In Jerusalem a gang of 'religious' men dragged a woman from the bed where she was caught in the act of adultery and threw her down at the feet of Jesus, demanding justice in the most extreme measure meted out by the 'letter' of the law. They were so sure 'justice' was on their side that 'justice' would condemn her to death, and prove them 'right'. But there was a double standard of justice in play here. Where was the man caught with her in the act of adultery? Justice required that both the man and the woman be stoned to death, so why did they only drag the woman to Jesus?
They had a political agenda, they wanted to catch Jesus in his words and to see what he would do. He knew their hearts he recognized they were calling for so-called 'justice' but he also knew that mankind was very capable of applying double standards.
He wrote in the sand and when asked for an answer He said, "He who is without Sin (without injustice) let him cast the first stone" He bent down again and began writing in the sandThe account of this event tells us that one by one the 'lynch mob' dispersed and walked away, starting with the oldest and continuing down to the youngest until there was no one left.
He then turned to the accused woman, where are those who would condemn you? They are gone. She said. Neither do I condemn you, go your way and sin no more. He said.
God desires a righteous cry for justice but he is no respecter of persons.
When justice comes it will challenge every man, woman, and child.
When we ask for truth to be revealed and lies to be exposed.
Justice will expose all the lies, not just the ones we do not like.
