MORE ABOUT THE MINNEAPOLIS MIRACLE (45 years later)

This post is about the Minneapolis Miracle in 1971

October 1971 - Minneapolis Miracle

It began with A special weekend prayer retreat at the campus of Camp Courage just west of Minneapolis. That weekend Dick Eastman used the gift of Word of knowledge to call out almost a hundred youth one by one telling them what God had called them to do, recalling events and conversations that had happened at the time of that previous event.

I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit that night with at least 30 others. God was present in a tangible way as the Spirit hovered over our camp. They closed the dining hall because none of the 120 students were showing up for meals, curfew was dropped because young men and women were staying up all night in prayer searching their hearts and seeking God, We all left there changed by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Dick Eastman went onto North Central Bible College in downtown Mpls. Monday to lead their morning chapel service, and that chapel service lasted for three days and three nights! Monday 8 AM - Wednesday 10 PM. The Bible school was shaken to its core, scores of students were baptized in the Holy Spirit. Nightly meetings were held at the Minneapolis Gospel Tabernacle (Assemblies of God) on 13th Avenue a few doors south of lake Street in South Minneapolis.

Dick left Minneapolis on Thursday and he later wrote some of the details in a book called the Purple Pig and other Miracles.

However later that same day a Canadian evangelist Brian Ruud arrived in Minneapolis and began nightly evangelistic meetings at Soul's Harbour, housed at that time in the historic Lyceum Theater on 11th street in Minneapolis. Orchestra Hall is currently located on that site. The Trip Beyond.

Hundreds perhaps thousands were saved over that four month period.  The meetings continued nightly from 7 pm until almost midnight, 7 days a week for 17 weeks, but as the Holidays approached the revival meetings ended almost as suddenly as they began. But the move of God was still at work in a more hidden way, many churches that are still with us today in the Twin Cities were planted coming out of that 1-2 move of God in 1971.

One of those churches that came out of Souls Harbor and the move of God going on was Jesus People Church, which had a strong evangelistic anointing. When it imploded in 1985-6 at least 30 churches of around 300 each were launched out of that transition.

God has been wanting to finish what he started in 1971 and I think He is about ready to bring it back to life.

The Lyceum Theatre held 1,800 seats and housed the church 'Souls Harbor' for many years from the 50s into the 70s.

It was built in 1905 just at the end of the Welsh Revival and just before the Azusa street revival in Los Angeles

In 1976, it was razed to make way for the new Orchestra Hall complex.

Live service from Souls Harbor in the early 70s  (but not from the revival meetings)
