Is Worship an Upload and Prophecy a Download?
WORSHIP UPLOAD? (part 3)
In much the same way as we have made prayer a transaction, a one-way upload of what is going on with us to Heaven, We can make our praise and worship a one-way transaction as well, just the UPLOAD of an mp3 file from our mouths to Heaven.
Is it wrong to think that God is expressing His love to us at the very same time as we are praising Him? Human Lovers do..."
Man: "I love you"You get the picture. Do our expressions of adoration, affection, desire have to be one-sided?
Woman: "I love you more"
Man: "you look beautiful"
Women: "you are very handsome too."
In both prayer and worship to the natural mind, it seems just fine that all the traffic is traveling in the same direction, from us toward Heaven. At its essence however both prayer and worship are expressions of love and of two hearts connecting. They should flow back and forth in the same instant, much like a kiss, that is both given and received, responded to and returned.
It requires both parties to be engaged in a kiss just like two hearts Engaged in Prayer.
It requires both parties to be engaged in a kiss just like two hearts Engaged in Prayer.
Worship and prayer are liking kissing, it is intimate, it is personal, it transcends time and it is easy to let it block out the rest of the world.
On the other hand, we often look at Prophecy as being a one-way transaction, after all, God gives us a WORD downloaded to our minds from Heaven. Again, seen as a direct response perhaps to our worship "transaction" or to our prayer "transaction". Discussed sometimes as though they are deposits into our account, "That was a good word" like a word is a reward for well doing.
The funny thing is we seem to miss the very essence of our freedom in Christ; the free access to have a face to face, eye to eye, real two-way conversation with the one who loved us.
He loved us enough to shed His glory, take off his kingly robes and become a helpless baby, born in a manger, suffer in every way that we do and then to walk through a horrible death. So that we could commune with Him forever. That is our God and He is also our kinsman redeemer, the One who loves us immensely, I can tell you this without a doubt.
He is not looking for a transaction. He is not looking for a one-way upload in worship nor a one-way download in prophecy, or in just blessing us as an event.
LOVING IS A TWO-WAY AFFAIR
At a prophetic conference many years ago, a female singer on the worship team began a spontaneous song to the Lord. I do not recall the content of her song, however, I will never forget when another male singer began to respond to her song, in prophecy through song. It had a tremendous impact on the whole place because we could all hear God speaking to us, through this singer, about His love toward us. We sat there experiencing the two way communication. It was so beautiful, that I can still remember the experience many years later and yet it is that very thing which makes the Song of Songs so uncomfortable to us and yet so beautiful.

I am sure there is more to say about this, shifting gears to see how we could worship and prophesy as two parts to a whole, like walking... left foot, right foot, left foot, right foot. Or like breathing, breath in, breath out, breath in, breath out.
I just wanted to bring it up for consideration in my own spirit and write it down to capture it.
We are studying antiphonal singing at PHOP and I am just wondering if this is something God is going to do in our corporate meetings and in our prayer times.
