WHO ARE YOU TRUSTING IN ?
A deadly plague swept across the nation in one night, death touched every home, across all boundaries of wealth and poverty, slave and free. But the children of God were protected from the angel of DEATH in ancient Egypt
The father of each family had to take action, he had to select a lamb, bring it into his house for four days, then kill the lamb at 3 pm and brush the blood of that innocent lamb across the lintel and the doorposts of his house.
It will shut down Broadway Theaters, major Sports events, the casinos, hotels, bars, and restaurants, postpone the Olympics, even primary elections, closing schools from elementary to doctorate programs, closing the 'watering holes' of the ultra-rich and of the working man.
On that night it was not the words men spoke that mattered. It all came down to each man's actions; Actions always speak louder than words.
The father of each family had to take action, he had to select a lamb, bring it into his house for four days, then kill the lamb at 3 pm and brush the blood of that innocent lamb across the lintel and the doorposts of his house.
This required a public display; Each man's decision was manifest to all... Did he trust in the words of the Most-High God? then he would act. Or did he discount the word of the Lord? All of his neighbors could see his decision displayed through his actions. He could influence his neighbors but that influence would end at sundown. This is the time to let your light shine, Be bold! Be strong! Be generous! Your neighbors will not see your faith, without actions? Demonstrate your faith by your actions, who you are trusting in?
After sundown, they all just waited until midnight to see how this would pan out... But it wasn't 'sheltering in place' that saved them although that was an instruction given by God in the story. In the end, it was 'sheltering in place' under the shadow of the Almighty that made the difference. This shelter of safety was purchased by the shed blood of Jesus the Lamb of God... That was what made the difference then and that is what will make the difference for you now.

That plague was also no 'respecter' of persons.
It hit the rich and it hit the poor, the slave girl, and the Pharaoh. Here is what Exodus 11:4-5 says:
It hit the rich and it hit the poor, the slave girl, and the Pharaoh. Here is what Exodus 11:4-5 says:
So Moses said, “This is what the Lord says: ‘About midnight I will go throughout Egypt. Every firstborn son in Egypt will die, from the firstborn son of Pharaoh, who sits on the throne, to the firstborn son of the female slave, who is at her hand mill, and all the firstborn of the cattle as well.
Let's put this in more modern terms so we can feel their reality today.
The plague will hit the House of Representatives and Senators, Republicans and Democrats, Vice-presidential staff in Washington D.C., and the homeless in San Francisco. It will strike revelers, wild in the streets at Mardi Gras and the elderly confined to their nursing home in Kirkwood, WA.
We have heard all the clamor of the media, the dire projections, and all the fear that is being peddled as news. Hyperbole - millions dying. Projections of total economic collapse, a recession the stock market dropping like before the Great Depression - a plundering of our wealth or 401Ks and our economy!
Each of the ten plagues mocked one of their powerless (man-made) gods. In the world today, this plague has shut down all the things men esteem highly. All seven mountains of our culture have been touched.

- Finance/Business- (unemployment, businesses closed, bankrupt? 401Ks, IRAs),
- Arts and Entertainment, (Sports, Hollywood Galas, Broadway, Olympics)
- Government (Political campaigns, elections postponed, Government overwhelmed, working around the clock)
- Education (kindergarten to doctorate programs at universities closed)
- Religion (churches closed - no gatherings) Jews and gentiles, protestant & Roman Catholic
- Media - (journalism is out of business - obsessed with fear mistrust, and hate)
- Family - (parties large and small canceled, even weddings postponed in some states.)
Go back and read the bible again Egypt was plundered, totally by this last of the ten plagues, although the previous nine plagues had already done much to damage the wealth of Egypt, this plague touched family and legacy.
In the Scriptures, Egypt is always a symbol of depending on natural strength, on man-made solutions to try and stem supernatural problems. So when God plundered Egypt, he was pointing out to His children that it was foolish to depend on the puny strength of natural mankind. On temporary riches. which are unstable. When facing a supernatural enemy like the angel of death you need supernatural protection.
Who or what are you trusting in, relying on, clinging to?
Where do you stand today child of God?
Are you trusting in, relying on, and clinging to, masks? sanitizers? public and private health systems? or are you trusting in, relying on, and clinging to, the promises of protection from a faithful God who has proved His Word is true over and over again? That first Passover is just one such rescue of a hopeless nation, by a loving and faithful God, there are many many more throughout the Bible Scriptures.
If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and
you make the Highest your dwelling,
NO harm will overtake you, NO disaster will come near your tent.
For He will command His angels concerning youto guard you in all your ways; Psalm 91: 9-11
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;the flames will not set you ablaze. I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; Isaiah 43:1-3
Stand up and shine - while it is still day.

The Road Not Taken
Outstanding, David! Our thoughts exactly. This is a season for the Kingdom to push forward in realms of the Spirit, not to hunker down. In case you haven't caught Bill's message, here is the video link: https://www.bethel.tv/watch/8440 and podcast link: podcasts/sermons/episodes/557.
